Back in February of 2007, The Happy Church purchased a new property as the home for their ministry to the Jackson community. Included was a new church building, a nice home which is currently rented, and a home which had been sitting vacant for many years (see original announcement).
It is the vision of the church family to see this vacant home rennovated into a Youth House that will be used for a two-fold purpose:

1) To be a gathering place for the youth in the community

2) To be a place for out-of-town ministry teams to spend the night.

Here are some "before" pictures of the house:

On May 5th, a work crew from the Centerville GBC ripped off the old roof and installed a new one. They also ripped out all the interior drywall and plumbing fixtures, and re-framed some of the interior walls.

May 5th work day:

Near the end of May, we put out word that we were looking to install all new windows (13) in the house. We put out a plea for interested donors to "purchase" a window for $150. The response from that request was overwhelming! Many people sent money for the "rennovation project" whether it be for windows or other expenses. Some sent money to "purchase" a window(s). All told, I believe we've had approximately $7000 come in! That's after $2000 was already donated for the roof. So on June 9, we held our 2nd workday where all new windows were installed in the house, rough-in wiring was begun, as was rough-in plumbing.

June 9 Workday:

All the windows, except for two small ones in the basement, are installed. The Centerville crew didn't leave until around 9pm, arriving home at 1am or later. (I wonder if they were in church Sunday morning?)

What do we need yet?

- Hopefully the wiring and plumbing will be completed this week.

- We need someone to install insulation in all the exterior walls.

- We need someone to install drywall on all the walls and ceilings.

- We need someone to finish the drywall after it's hung.

- We need someone to paint walls and ceilings

- We need someone to sand and refinish all the wood floors.

- We need someone who can install new vinyl siding on the whole exterior

- We need someone who can install a new HVAC system in the house.

- I have yet to get a financial update from John Jacobson after Saturday's workday, but my best guess is that we probably need another $4000-$5000 to complete the project.
