Happy Youth House..Phase 2 report.
This past Saturday, June 9, a crew of district workers descended upon Jackson, KY and put in a full day's work at the Happy Church's Youth House. In May, the Centerville GBC installed a new roof, and gutted the interior of all drywall. The first weekend of June, the Community GBC from West Milton was in town and helped the Happy Church with ministry including: neighborhood evangelism, worship service, and they helped with outdoors work at the Youth House. On June 9th, another crew, primarily from Centerville GBC, showed up and installed all new windows, finished up re-framing the interior, got a good start on rough-in wiring, and about half of the rough-in plumbing.

Plumbing and wiring are expected to be completed this week, and then we have a need for people to help out with installing new insulation, and then hanging drywall through-out the whole house. Next we have a need for drywall finishers, and someone with expertise in refinishing the hardwood floors. Finally, there is an old propane furnace on site, but our guess is that it doesn't work. We'd like to install a whole new furnace/AC system if anyone in our district would like to help consult or install the system. To see a pictoral review of our work days and more info, (click here)...
May 5 , 2007 Centerville GBC heads up roof project for The Happy Church. Centerville GBC is heading up a roofing project for The Happy Church. The plan is to put a new roof on the mission house next to the church on Saturday May 5th. The work crew will be heading down on Friday evening, spending the night in the church building, and then arising early Saturday morning to start the roofing project. The old roof will be removed, any damaged wood underlayment replaced, and a new roof installed. While they have a construction dumpster for the project, they are also going to remove all the drywall surfaces in the interior of the home. They are hoping to accomplish both tasks on Saturday May 5th. If you'd like to help out on this project, just email Bill Starrett at the Centerville church. He'd love to hear from you. (email Bill)

April 9, 2007 Prayer request for pastoral housing.. On June 1st, Pastor Nicholas Philiposian and his wife Charlene and their two boys will be moving to Union City, IN/OH to begin their new ministry with The DayStar Church. After a couple house-hunting trips by the Philiposians, and also extensive search by other members of the local church body, they still have not been able to find the "right home." Due to the slow housing market in Union City, the Philiposians are desirious of renting for a period of time until they become better aquainted with the area, and can make a wiser decision on a home purchase. Please pray that they would be able to find a rental property that would meet their needs, or that they would find a great deal on a purchase.
April 9 , 2007 Cornerstone needs a new meeting place for the summer. The Cornerstone Church was recently informed that the school in Miamisburg where they are currently meeting, is going to be unavailable to them this summer. The school building will be undergoing some building repairs that will make it impossible for the church to continue meeting there. Please pray for the church to be able to find a new location that would actually aid their ministry to the community.
February 25, 2007 DayStar Church unanimously calls new lead pastor. On February 25th, The DayStar Church in Union City, IN held a congregational meeting to consider the call for Pastor Nicholas Philiposian, who had candidated the week previous. The vote of the congregation was unanimous, and there was much excitement in looking forward to Nicholas and Charlene arriving. Nicholas will remain in Uniontown, PA through the end of May, and begin his new ministry in Union City, IN the first week of June. Pastor Randy and Dena Todd were the church planters that birthed this new work and now Nicholas and Charlene can build on the foundation that has been laid. Continue to pray for this young church during this time of transition. Also pray for the Philiposians as they bring their ministry to a conclusion in Uniontown, and make plans to move to Union City (IN, or OH).
February 18, 2007 The Happy Church met in their new facility for the first time. On February 5th, The Happy Church in Jackson, KY closed a purchase agreement for a new church facility. See article and pictures . In spite of snow and ice, an excited church body met and celebrated God's provision as He continues to build His church.
This past Sunday, February 25th, 2007, the DayStar Grace Brethren Church announced that their mortgage on their 12 acres of land had recently been paid off. While they are currently meeting in a storefront facility on the Indiana side of Union City, they purchased land a couple years ago on the Ohio side of town. They have systematically paid on the mortgage each month until the $48,000 purchase price has been paid off. Their future plans include a multi-purpose facility that targets the youth of the Union Cities communities.
The Happy Church makes an offer to purchase an existing church facility. The Happy Church is in a rented storefront facility that is not in a good area of town, limited parking, and the condition of the building is deteriorating. Recently, the Church of God in town has been building a new facility, and has its old facility for sale. The Happy Church made a Land Contract Offer to Purchase the property (church building and two houses), and the initial offer was rejected. The Church of God is moving to their new facility within the next couple weeks, and our prayer is that they will be more willing to accept the offer once they vacate the old building.

Please be praying for God's provision of a new facility for the Happy Church to advance the Kingdom in Jackson, KY.
